Welcome home again! As a returning student we thank you for continuing to live on-campus. Housing and Residence Life strives to create a home away from home where all ERAU students are able to thrive academically, professionally, and personally.
Our office handles all maintenance requests. If a light burns out or you have another maintenance concern, please tell your RA, e-mail us email@example.com, or call us at (928) 777-3744.
We provide emergency response 24/7. If you are in need of assistance please contact the HRL emergency line at (928) 777-3790 and listen to the prompts. You can also contact Campus Safety at (928) 777-3333.
Housing rules and regulations are outlined in the Student Handbook found at the Dean of Students Services and Support page.
Room Selection – Who gets to live on campus and where
Each year, the Department of Housing and Residence Life conducts Room Selection, the process in which returning students can apply to live on-campus again and get to choose their specific room and roommates. This process starts in October with the Residence Hall Association hosting an open forum to get student input on how Room Selection should be done for the upcoming year. As a returning student, this is your opportunity to voice your opinion and provide your insight into how we should choose who gets to live on-campus and how they should select their rooms for the following year. We take this input and then decide on a process. We advertise the process via flyers, e-mails, banners, and programs. Be on the look out for these ads in January.
2017-18 Room Selection
We continue to anticipate a larger demand for on-campus housing than supply, meaning some people who want to live in the halls will not be able to do so. Even with the new hall opening this past year, we anticipate more students wanting to live on-campus than we have space.
2017-18 Space On-Campus
Application date will be the deciding factor for who gets a space in the halls. Rising Sophomores, those who are currently required to live on-campus, will have early access to the application, and thus have priority for a space on campus.
Application is found at ERAUHousingApp.com and will go live for the following students at the following times:
Rising Sophomores (those currently required to live on-campus) – Sunday January 22nd at noon AZ time
Returning students – Sunday January 29th at noon AZ time
All returning student applications will be turned off on February 12th at noon AZ time
Please note: if you currently live off-campus you do not have a housing deposit on file and will need to complete one to consider your application complete. To make your housing deposit go to deposit page.
2017-18 Choosing Rooms and Roommates
Picking specific rooms will go by class standing, with Graduate Students picking before Seniors, who will pick before Juniors, and so on. This means that a current freshmen required to live on-campus will have priority for a space on campus, but the Senior who has lived in the halls for 3 years and applies early enough for a space will pick their room first.
On February 17th everyone that applied for housing will receive an e-mail to their ERAU account letting them know if they got a space on-campus or are on the waitlist. If you received a space on-campus you will be assigned a lottery number based on class standing, with Graduate Students and Seniors with the lowest (best) numbers and Freshmen with the highest numbers. We will allow you to choose your specific room and roommates based on lottery numbers.
Room Selection will be an on-line process and students if students want to live together, they will need to form groups. The February e-mail outlines how to form groups and when the on-line process will be available.
Returning students are able to pick their roommates as long as you do so in groups of 2 or 4, meaning you fill a bedroom or unit. A group of 3 cannot pick a room together. If you find friends you want to live with, you will form a group online and pick your room based on the lowest lottery number in the group. So a group of 1 Senior and 3 Sophomores will use the Senior’s lower lottery number to pick their room. All students in the group must have a lottery number.
Returning students will be able to live in the new Thumb Butte Apartments, Village Apartments, and Village Suites. Typically, apartments fill up first, so if you have a high lottery number you will probably end up in a suite. Summer housing will be in the new Thumb Butte Apartments. We will also set aside a percent of each room type for females based on the percent of females who got a space on-campus.
2017-18 Room Selection Important Dates:
1/22 – Applications go live at noon AZ time for “Rising Sophomores”, those currently required to live on-campus
1/29 – Applications go live at noon AZ time for all other returning students
2/12 – Applications turn off at noon AZ time
2/17 – E-mail sent to all students who applied. Will let students know if they got a space on-campus or are on the waitlist
2/26 – Q&A session 4-7pm in the Housing Office
Last week in February and 1st week of March – Room Selection where students pick their specific rooms and roommates via on-line process
Waitlist Students and Process
Spaces are provided based on application date and time. The waitlist is managed in the same fashion, with those who applied earliest offered a space first. Students on the waitlist are able to cancel their contract without penalty prior to accepting a room assignment. As a space becomes available, HRL will use ERAU e-mail to offer the next person on the waitlist. That student has 72 hours to accept the space. If they decline the space, or fail to accept, their contract is automatically cancelled and they are removed from the waitlist. See Terms and Conditions for additional information.
At any point in time a student can contact the HRL office to find out their status on the waitlist. HRL will communicate with students via ERAU e-mail with updates throughout the semester and summer as to their waitlist status.
