Mission Statement

The mission of the Dean of Students Office is to support Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the Division of Student Affairs by providing services, resources and advocacy for all of our students to promote an ethical community through fundamental fairness, mutual respect, personal accountability and responsible citizenship. Through our collaborative efforts, we strive to create a safe and welcoming campus environment that embraces a diversity of ideas, beliefs and cultures, where ideas can be freely exchanged in an environment guided by fairness, honesty and integrity.

Are you concerned about an Embry-Riddle student? If you have witnessed a situation involving a student that creates concern for his/her health and safety, feel like a student requires additional assistance or see a student behaving inappropriately in class or on campus, please submit the Student of Concern Form.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University believes it is important to foster an environment that encourages students to maintain a standard of responsibility for self-care which includes the ability to respond adequately to one's emotional, physical, and educational needs. Some students who are distressed engage in behaviors that impact their self-welfare and the welfare of the university community.

Students are provided an opportunity to express any complaint, grievance, or dispute that upon investigation may be remedied. The Dean of Students Office will provide advice and guidance to students who present us with grievances or complaints, whether personal or academically related.

Title IX Sexual Harassment & University Sexual Misconduct Policy

The Dean of Students Office is able to assist students with class excuses for short term situations on an as-needed basis due to personal and family emergencies such as personal illness (hospitalization or ER visits) and family emergencies (family member dealt or sudden illness). Medical and Crisis Withdrawals are also initiated through the Dean of Students Office as well. Please contact either the Dean of Students or the Associate Dean of Students for more information or assistance. 

Embry-Riddle's policies and regulations are established to protect the health, safety and well-being of the campus community and its members. Students and recognized organizations are responsible for knowing and adhering to all published policies and regulations.

The Student Handbook is a tool for students to use that contains pertinent information about departments, services and University policies. All students are reminded that they are responsible for the information in the handbook and the information in the handbook online is considered to be the most up-to-date version.

Functions Supported by the Dean of Students Office

The Dean of Students Office organizes graduation for graduates in the fall and spring semesters.  Graduation is held off campus at the Prescott Valley Event Center.

The mission of the Parent & Family Association is to promote and foster open communication between the University Administration and family members of our students.

The Student Government is responsible for maintaining a communication link between students, faculty, staff and administration. The SGA is the student resource for voicing concerns and suggesting new ideas for improvement to the University. Members of the Student Government Association are involved campus-wide. The SGA President serves as a student delegate to the Board of Trustees and each council member serves on a variety of committees including Food Services Committee and the Jack Hunt President’s and Ed King Award selection committees. Student Government members also meet with the deans regularly to discuss academic and extra-curricular issues, provide input on a variety of campus projects and sit in on student conduct appeals to ensure fundamental fairness to all students.
