This newly built cyber lab includes 24 dedicated workstations for student use, a podium computer to control lecture material and access software and network tools.  A dedicated attached server room with isolated network layers and multiple operating systems and servers supports research and instruction. This laboratory is designed to allow students to practice computer security measures, including detection and investigation of computer security breaches and other digital crimes. The Cyber Security Lab, known by many students as the “Hacker Lab,” gives students the opportunity to learn how information can be compromised and the techniques to protect information from a cyberattack. Students also learn how to perform a forensic examination of a computer system to identify hidden files and capture digital evidence.  Four dedicated digital forensics stations will allow a variety of hardware and software to be investigated.  Student groups meet to practice for competitions, work on external projects or create their own research or investigations using various versions of Linux, open source software tools and industry standard access control and security software.
